Ben Danowitz

Business Manager / Partner

Originally from Pennsylvania, Ben first came to Vermont to attend UVM where he would graduate Magna Cum Laude in 2013 and a BA in English with a concentration in Environmental Studies. While still a student, Ben also sparked an interest in the trades and began working for Conant Metal and Light in 2012. During his senior year and the year following, Ben worked at Conant as a fabricator/technician, making custom lighting and furniture.

With a taste for metalworking and a desire to expand his skill set, Ben left Conant in 2014 to begin working with college friend Ian Fulton, at Happy Hollow Builders. Here Ben not only saw tremendous growth in his own abilities, but also his ability to work as an efficient team member with Ian. Ben would spend four seasons with Happy Hollow before moving to Cold Hollow Contracting in 2018, where he would continue to refine his metalworking and roofing skills.

Now with Kestrel Contracting, Ben continues in his father and grandfather’s legacy of starting his own business. When not on the roof or crunching numbers in the office, Ben spends his spare time studying Spanish, cooking, climbing, and riding his bike.

Ian Fulton

Sales and Marketing Manager / Partner

Ian began working in the trades in high school for his best friend’s Dad’s company, Karas Construction. This early exposure to working on job-sites provided Ian with the desire to work hard and think critically from a young age. Before going to college, Ian first spent two years building and working on sailboats for Waterline Systems/ US Watercraft in Portsmouth, RI. During these years Ian obtained a new level of skill and understanding for the art of building. With the foundation set, Ian then attended and graduated from UVM in 2013 before returning to the trades permanently.

After college, Ian began working as a roofer in 2013 at Happy Hollow Builders. In the next five years, four of which were with Ben, Ian gained much interest and understanding for Standing Seam roofing. While the pair worked together, they would often discuss the company they would one day hope to run. Before realizing this dream, Ian also joined Cold Hollow Contracting in 2018. At Cold Hollow, Ian worked in the shop as well as on commercial and residential roofing projects.

When Ian is not roofing, he enjoys spending his time mountain biking, snowboarding, and exploring the rivers and forests of Vermont with his girlfriend Caitlin, and their dog Theo.
